Wireless added to archaeology lab

Information Technology Services has recently added wireless service to the archaeology lab, near the maintenance complex and the Duchossois  tennis center. Devices that have been configured for wireless service using the wizard at http://wireless.wlu.edu should connect automatically when they enter the lab, or other campus locations served by W&L wireless.

Locations currently covered by wireless service are shown on this map:

For questions about wireless service, contact the Information Desk (x4357 on campus or help@wlu.edu)

900 new e-books available

More than 900 technical and other titles were recently added to the Safari Online book collection licensed by Washington and Lee University for all faculty, staff and students.  Topics covered by the online books range from software such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to strategic planning and “Facebook for Dummies.”

Safari Books Online includes thousands of titles, mostly in the area of computer science and information technology. To access the titles, go to http://safari.wlu.edu . You may be prompted for your W&L username and password if you are on campus. Safari titles are also accessible through the University’s online catalog, annie.wlu.edu .

Update your wireless device

Information Technology Services encourages faculty, staff and students with wireless devices to use this Web-based configuration wizard to take advantage of changes and improvements in Washington and Lee”s wireless network completed during the summer:

http://wireless.wlu.edu

This process can be completed from off campus or on campus. With each wireless device (such as laptop computer, smartphone, tablet), you plan to use at W&L, access the web site and follow the steps as prompted. After completing this process, your device should connect automatically when in range of W&L’s wireless network.  Use your W&L username and password when completing the wireless configuration process; if you change your password, you’ll need to return to wireless.wlu.edu and complete the process again.

Please note that wireless is a limited resource and that minor disruptions are common, particularly in large, secure wireless networks such as the one at W&L. See Statement on W&L Wireless: https://managementtools.wlu.edu/Help/Resources/1/162.pdf
