MS Word workshops planned Nov. 1 week

Microsoft Word is the theme of training sessions planned the week  of Nov. 1 in the Smart Zone in Leyburn Library (Main Level, by the entrance nearest the Commons). These 15-minute training sessions will be offered at at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

  • Monday, Nov. 1:  Creating a form in Microsoft Word and locking it down.  Led by John White
  • Tuesday, Nov. 2:  Working with Styles in Microsoft Word.  Led by Julie Knudson
  • Wednesday, Nov. 3:  Review and Track changes in Word.  Led by John Watkins
  • Thursday, Nov. 4: Write n Cite and Its Use with Word.  Led by Mary Abdoney
  • Friday, Nov. 5: What’s new in Word 2010.  Led by Judi Rhodes

Excel, CS5, other books available through Safari

New technical books and articles are available to W&L through the Safari Books Online service. The new titles include:

Reid Hall wireless enhanced

Six new wireless access points have been added in Reid Hall, for a total of eight in the building. The additional access points will provide increased signal quality throughout the building.

The W&L campus is covered by more than 400 wireless access points, and additional access points are being added to extend coverage and increase signal quality as needed. Current areas of coverage are shown on this map:

Smart Zone Training, week of Oct. 25

The Kindle, Photoshop and more are featured in 15-minute training sessions the week of Oct. 25 at the Smart Zone in Leyburn Library (Main Level, by the entrance nearest the Commons).

Information Technology Services and others will offer these 10-15 minute training sessions at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the SmartZone:

  • Monday, Oct. 25:  How to Use a Kindle
  • Tuesday, Oct. 26:  Photoshop:  Image retouching and lighting adjustments
  • Wednesday, Oct. 27:  Analyze Data in Excel with Sorting and Filtering
  • Thursday, Oct. 28:  Windows 7—Paint.exe and the snipping tool
  • Friday, Oct. 29:  Using DropBox on your PC, Mac, iPad or SmartPhone
