Kindle DX reading devices available for checkout

The Information Desk in Leyburn Library has two Kindle DX readers available for checkout. You can use your own Amazon account, download a book and test the Kindle for yourself. You can also send PDFs to the Kindle for reading and review.

If you’re going to a conference, you could download the conference papers (if available) in PDF format to the Kindle and have them all in one place. It’s lighter than a laptop and for some events, it might be all the technology you need to carry.

Before returning the Kindle, you need to delete your Amazon account information off the device. The staff at the Information Desk can help you, or you can find the instructions in the user guide on the Kindle.

Wireless: log in once, and you’re done

Are you logging in every time you use the wireless network at W&L? Take a few minutes to complete this procedure and you won’t have to log in again:

Using any Internet connection (wired or wireless), point your Web browser to this address: http://wireless.wlu.edu Follow the steps as instructed. You’ll be prompted to enter your W&L network user name and password, and you’ll be asked which of two wireless networks to connect to; read the descriptions to pick the appropriate one for you. You can return to the page at http://wireless.wlu.edu and complete the steps for the other wireless network later, as needed.

Once you complete these steps, your computer will be configured for use on W&L’s secure wireless network, and you’ll automatically connect when you’re in range of the network, without any prompts to log in.
